The Design Process
| Initial Visit and Consultation |
I will visit you to discuss your garden with you and view the site. I will present my portfolio of current and completed commissions showing plans, sketches and photographs and outline my fees. We will discuss your tastes and requirements for your garden. This consultation is chargeable, refundable against a future commission. |  |
| Written Report | My report summarising our meeting to establish a brief and confirm my fees depending on your requirements. Should you decide to commission me, the above consultation fee will be refunded as part deposit. On return of my contractual documentation I will arrange to survey the site. |
| Site Survey | Visit to survey the site and clarify any points arising from the report. The Site Survey shows the house, boundaries, existing features and levels required for the subsequent preparation of the garden design. |
| Client Brief | A comprehensive questionnaire is completed with you to establish your exact requirements, likes and dislikes and confirm your budget in preparation for me to work on concept plans. |
| Concept Plan | Prepare and present the Concept Plan - a pencil drawing to scale of the design proposals for discussion and agreement. |  |
| Layout Plan | Prepare full scaled Garden Layout Plan in colour showing existing and proposed structures and features together with general areas of planting. Sketches and drawings will accompany to help you visualize your garden. |  |
| Site Setting Out Plan and Construction Drawings |
A Site Setting Out Plan will accompany the garden layout plan to enable accurate plotting of all elements of the layout plan. Detailed construction drawings can be provided if necessary. These drawings incur additional fees. |  |
| Planting Plan | Prepare detailed Planting Plan showing the position of all trees and plants using full botanical names with a list of quantities required. Special consideration is given to the nature of the site (e.g. shade, full sun), garden theme (e.g. Sensuous, Mediterranean), texture and colour, and seasonal interest. The plan can be presented in colour or black and white. |  |
| Planting Service | Should you require I provide a service to source, supply, set out and plant your garden following construction. |  |
| Tendering Documentation and Construction |
You may choose to carry out the garden construction work or appoint a Landscaper known to yourself. Alternatively, I can help you find a Landscaper by preparation of Tender Documentation. You may then select and employ a suitable Landscaper. |  |
| Project Inspection | To ensure accurate implementation of the plan I provide a service to inspect the construction of the garden working with my recommended landscapers. |  |
| After Completion, Maintenance |
Gardens mature over a period of time - I am happy to oversee the establishment of your garden with follow up visits and specialist maintenance to ensure the planting matures satisfactorily and also to provide advice on aftercare and pruning. |  |
